Valuation and Appraisals

Business owners understand they are working to grow the value of their businesses but seldom measure that value. Business valuation is a process used to estimate the economic value of an owners interest in a business.

PSK Corporate Advisory undertakes valuations for many reasons including:

  • To assist in determining the price that parties in a transaction are willing to pay or receive for a business

  • Resolve disputes related to taxation and divorce litigation

  • Allocate business purchase price among business assets

  • Lending authorities are now increasingly requiring business valuations when business owners apply for loans or refinancing

  • To assist in identifying what is needed to increase the value of the business or attract new capital; and

  • Estimating the value of partners' ownership interest for buy-sell agreements.

A business valuation not only assists business owners in determining the value of their business, it also assists in maximising value when considering a sale, merger or joint venture. A sound business valuation can become a crucial part of the actual buy/sell agreement. Business owners can also use a business valuation as one of the cornerstones of a long-term financial plan to enhance the value of their business, assisting them to develop a more effective strategic business plan.
